"Free
Voices", a vision that conjures up the dark days of
bondage for millions of black slaves, singing for joy and liberation.
The "Free Voice Gospel Choir" was born in 1997 at
Beinasco (Turin - Italy) thanks to the initiative of a group
of volunteers dedicated to their purpose which is to experiment
choral singing as ministry of spiritual fellowship and social
commitment.
From a starting core of 30 singers, the choir
has developed into its present ensemble of 70 singers,
4 dancers and a 6-musician band, which play live
at every choir performance.
Many voices, different from one another like the people they
belong to, whose life and faith merge in a single inspiration
when they minister in music, eager to bring their soulful message
of hope and faith to all listeners.
Clinging
to these ideals, from the very beginning till now, the choir
has strived to maintain its commitment, performing in more than
150 concerts, supporting and promoting several solidarity's
initiatives. In this journey we literally walked into a throng
of people, who has brought about a personal and artistic growth
of the group.
Our repertoire is in the wake, offering
choices of songs ranging from the so-called "traditionals"
(Amen, Oh Happy day, etc…) to more recent compositions, and
others of great rhythmic impact (I will dance, Worthy, etc…).
The Free Voice musical route is rounded up in
two CD's, both wholly self-produced.
In addition, they participated in the compilation "Gospel
Explosion" with the song "Glory to God Almighty".
The choir refers to a no profit organization
called "Voci Libere", which they named after.
